Extra Casual

9.1.17

It’s been extra hot in LA the past few days and putting on anything other than a swim suit has felt like a real chore.  We managed to get ourselves together for some tacos at Salazar – a spot I had wanted to go to for months.  The tacos did not disappoint and the charming courtyard out front was an added bonus – perfect spot to snap a few quick shots.

In the spirit of not really wanting to get dressed, I went with closest thing I could find to pajamas.  I have had these Phillip Lim pants for years but always forget about them.  This time I decided to try cuffing up the hem a bit and instantly found them wayyyyy cuter.  Especially for the hot weather.  They are super lightweight and have an elastic waist – particularly good for tacos am I right?

I usually try to dress these pants up but I think that’s where I have been going wrong in the past.  The slouchy style is great for a casual vibe.  I had just grabbed this tee from Forever 21 earlier in the week for one dollar!  $1!   Now I wish I had picked up five.  Or ten.  It is so soft and has a hint of 90s styling to it that made me feel like I might have borrowed it from Rachel Green.  A win in my book.

These gold sandals from Loeffler Randall are a fave for summer nights.  Simple, chic and easy.  I am wearing my Samma necklace here that I wear constantly (as you may have noticed), plus some of the Hermes bangles I wear everyday.  I have my Marigold Louie which has been in heavy rotation the last couple months.  I have been obsessed with this color all summer and the leather is perforated too which I love.

I’m not really the biggest fan of shorts so when it is hot I go with a high-cuffed pair of jeans paired with a lightweight cotton tee.  A little extra air around the ankles keeps things cool and provides a casual look.  I opt for a lighter weight denim under 10oz to keep things on the cooler side.  I am a huge fan of Dr. Collectors t-shirts.  They are broken in and slightly distressed with a perfect cut.  Glynn actually got his one for herself but I immediately commandeered out of the closet and it has become a favorite of mine this summer.

I love boots which are not really the most ideal item to wear when it is hot out but I think a pair of suede desert boots paired with a broken in pair of denim is suitable for the warmer days.  I had been searching for a good pair of suede chukka/ desert boots and when we were in NYC this summer I stopped into the R.M. Williams store.  R.M. Williams is better known for their classic Chelsea boot but they make an awesome unlined suede desert boot that is built to last.  These are unlined suede and have a super comfortable crepe rubber sole.

I am wearing some of my favorite everyday accessories here.  I have on my go to casual summer watch (also one of my all time favorites) - a 1967 Rolex Submariner which I have been wearing on a nylon NATO strap in the warm weather.  My necklace is a 1940’s WWII air force issued sterling silver St. Christopher medal that is a daily wear, and my ring is a skull and crossbones piece by the Great Frog London.  I am always sporting a bandana and this one is a 1950’s vintage cowboy one that I have had for a while now.
