Palomas

Palomas

7.24.17

This is the drink you should make for your next party.  Tequila has always been Glynn’s spirit of choice and everyone else seems to be getting on the train these days, or at least our friends.  Palomas are light and refreshing and not overly sweet so they are perfect for hot summer weather.  Equally good at brunch or cocktail hour, they are also super easy to make in pitcher form for a crowd.

The basic recipe is equal parts grapefruit juice, tequila, and soda.   We used Ocean Spray here clearly but fresh squeezed would be awesome too.  We also went with the grapefruit flavored La Croix because we usually have that around but regular soda water or lime flavored would work just as well.  Salting the rim is optional but makes it looks fancy so we’d recommend it.  Glynn likes it with some chili powder mixed into the salt for a subtle kick.  You could also grate in some lime zest with a microplane if you want to fancy up your salt rim but don’t want spice.

You’ll need:

Grapefruit juice

Tequila

Soda

Limes

Salt

Chili powder

Grapefruit slices for garnish

For one drink:

Run a lime or grapefruit wedge around the rim of the glass and dip into salt or salt + chili powder mix.  Fill glass with ice.  Add two ounces each of grapefruit juice, tequila and soda.  Squeeze in the juice of half a lime.   Garnish with lime or grapefruit wedge.

For a pitcher:

Just fill it up with equal parts grapefruit, tequila and soda and squeeze in a few limes.

Cheers!
